The agency stated that its final food stocks were delivered to kitchens within Gaza on Friday, and these kitchens are expected to deplete their remaining supplies in the coming days. This cessation of aid delivery leaves a critical lifeline severed for a significant portion of the Gazan population.

"For weeks, hot meal kitchens have been the only consistent source of food assistance for people in Gaza," the WFP emphasized in a statement. Despite reaching only half of the population with a mere 25% of their daily food needs, these kitchens had provided essential sustenance.

Israel initiated its humanitarian blockade of Gaza on March 2nd, cutting off the flow of vital food, medical supplies, and other essential aid to the over two million Palestinians residing in the territory. Israel maintains that the blockade, alongside its intensified military operations, is intended to pressure Hamas to accept a US-backed ceasefire proposal.

Adding to concerns, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir indicated a potential escalation, stating during a visit to Gaza on Thursday, "If we do not see progress in the return of the hostages, we will expand our activity into a more intense and significant operation."

Despite the dire situation, the United States has indicated it will not pressure Israel to allow more humanitarian aid into Gaza. This stance was highlighted by the new US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Hucakbee, who reportedly told a UN World Health Organization official that he would not intervene to open the borders.

The ongoing blockade has severely exacerbated Gaza's already precarious humanitarian crisis, with the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) having warned earlier in April of an imminent famine. The PRCS reported that most essential commodities, including flour, sugar, and cooking oil, have vanished from Gaza's markets.

The WFP revealed that over 116,000 metric tons of food are currently waiting at aid corridors outside of Gaza, ready for distribution by the WFP and its partners. These supplies, enough to feed one million people for up to four months, remain unable to enter as long as the borders remain closed.

"The situation inside the Gaza Strip has once again reached a breaking point: people are running out of ways to cope, and the fragile gains made during the short ceasefire have unravelled," the WFP concluded, painting a grim picture of the rapidly deteriorating conditions within the blockaded territory.

Gaza Strip: At least 50 Palestinians, many of them women and children, were killed in a series of Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, according to the territory's Health Ministry. The deadly attacks hit various locations, including residential buildings, a police station, and a tent housing displaced Palestinians.

The intense wave of strikes tore through civilian areas. Reports indicate that one strike in northern Gaza resulted in the deaths of at least 18 people, while another claimed 11 lives, including at least one child. In the southern city of Khan Younis, three separate strikes killed seven people, including a mother and her two children, as well as two other children. Central Gaza also witnessed casualties, with six people, including two women and two children, killed in the bombardments.

The Israeli military stated that the strike on the police station targeted a militant command center. However, the broader impact of the strikes on civilian infrastructure and the high number of non-combatant deaths have raised serious concerns.

These latest attacks follow a resumption of intense Israeli military operations in Gaza. The dire humanitarian situation in the enclave continues to worsen, with international organizations calling for increased aid access and a cessation of hostilities to protect the vulnerable civilian population.

Gaza City: An event in the Tuffah neighborhood, located in the eastern part of Gaza City, was reported recently. The incident involved a residential structure that collapsed.

Emergency services, including medical and civil defense teams, responded to the scene to provide assistance. Individuals who sustained injuries were transported to Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City for care.

Among those impacted were two four-year-old twin sisters. They were later pronounced deceased upon arrival at the hospital.

A family representative at the location stated that the residents were at home when the incident occurred. The representative also indicated that there was no military presence or weaponry at the residence.

Reports from the region have noted a number of child fatalities in the area since October 2023. Additionally, local health authorities have communicated ongoing challenges for emergency services in accessing and assisting those affected, as well as recovering individuals from incident sites.

Remains Found After Rare Fatal Shark Attack on Swimmer Off Israeli Coast

Hadera, Israel: Search and rescue teams have recovered remains off the coast of northern Israel, two days after a rare shark attack on a swimmer near Hadera. The Israel Fire and Rescue Authority confirmed the discovery on Tuesday afternoon.   

The remains have been transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for identification. Local media reports indicated that the missing swimmer was a 40-year-old man from central Israel.

The extremely unusual incident occurred in the sea at Hadera, approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) north of Tel Aviv. Shocking footage shared on social media captured the moment, with beachgoers on Olga Beach heard yelling in distress as a man was seen flailing in the water a few hundred feet offshore.   

While sharks are known to congregate in the Hadera area, drawn by the warmer waters discharged from a local power plant, particularly at this time of year, they are generally considered harmless. This tragic event marks a significant departure from the norm, as there have been no recorded fatal shark attacks in Israeli waters since the country's founding in 1948.

Following the attack on Monday, police immediately closed the beach as rescue teams initiated a search for the missing swimmer. Witnesses recounted the horrifying scene, with one individual, Eliya Motai, telling Ynet news site, "I was in the water, I saw blood and there were screams... It's terrifying. We were here yesterday and saw the sharks circling us."   

The area off Hadera is a known gathering spot for dusky and sandbar sharks, attracted by the warm water outflow from the Orot Rabin power station, Israel's largest. Fish carried down from a nearby stream also contribute to the shark presence.   

Monday's incident is reported to be only the fourth documented shark attack in Israel's history, according to YNet, underscoring the rarity and shock surrounding this fatal encounter.
