La Grand-Combe, France & Paris: In a disturbing incident that occurred at approximately 8:30 AM on Friday, April 25, 2025, a Muslim man, identified locally as Aboubakar, a 24-year-old Malian national, was brutally stabbed over 40 times inside the Hatice Mosque in La Grand-Combe, near Alès in southern France.

Following the attack, the suspect, identified as Olivier H., a French citizen of Bosnian origin born in 2004, fled the scene. A manhunt was launched by French authorities. Tragically, Aboubakar had just finished cleaning the mosque after prayers when the attack took place. The assailant reportedly filmed the assault on his phone and shouted insults against Islam.

In the wake of the heinous crime, French Prime Minister François Bayrou condemned the killing as an "anti-Muslim atrocity." President Emmanuel Macron echoed this sentiment, stating that racism and religious hatred have "no place" in France. The French Council of the Muslim Faith also strongly condemned the attack as an "anti-Muslim terrorist attack."

The suspect remained at large for two days. However, in a significant development, Olivier H. surrendered to Italian police in Pistoia, Italy, around 11 PM local time (2100 GMT) on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
