Anti-Islamist Rasmus Paludan burned 'Quran' in Stockholm

Rasmus Paludan burning 'Quran'

Rasmus Paludan is a convicted racist who announced a "Quran burning tour" last year in April during Ramadan. Rasmus Paludan is a Danish lawyer, political activist and the leader of the far-right political party, the Hard Line. He is known for his anti-immigrant and anti-Islamic views and has gained notoriety for his controversial and often offensive actions, including burning copies of the Quran in public. He has been banned from entering several countries due to his actions and speeches and has also been arrested multiple times for his participation in rallies and demonstrations.

It is important to note that his views and actions are widely considered racist and xenophobic, and are not shared by the majority of Danish society.

In an appeal to the Swedish ambassador, the Turkish government summoned him on Saturday to explain the burning of the Quran in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm.

Sweden's government allowed Rasmus Paludan to burn the Quran, according to a Washington Post report. The police protected him while he committed the crime. According to Turkish foreign ministry sources, the ambassador was told very clearly that Turkey condemned the act. The ambassador stated that it was provocative and a hate crime.

It is unacceptable for Sweden to act in this manner. A violation of sacred values should not be tolerated, and 'democratic rights' cannot be used to justify such acts."

It was during Ramzan last year that the 41-year-old announced his intention to do a "Quran burning tour". The holy book was burned in Muslim-dominated areas. This led to a riot where 40 people were arrested.
