Khalil Awawdeh who has been on continuous hunger since March 2022 in protest against his arrest without charge, hunger striker is inside the prison of Israel, and according to a physician who checked Khalil he may die anytime as his condition is very critical, the man applied in the court but the Israel court denied his release plea. During the last 170 days, Awawdeh has only been able to survive on water, according to his family. Awawdeh was emaciated and lying in a hospital bed when his lawyer took photos of him on Friday.
Physicians for Human Rights doctor Lina Qasem-Hassan estimated him to be extremely thin and malnourished while visiting Awadeh earlier this month. A near loss of vision is one of the symptoms of neurological damage, along with memory loss, difficulty concentrating, and involuntary eye movements. The possibility of heart failure or kidney failure was always present. In a ruling on Friday, a military court suspended Khalil Awawdeh's detention pending his rehabilitation at an Israeli hospital without restrictions. If he does not recover in the meantime, he will be rearrested once he is able to return to prison. Yesterday, Ahlam Haddad, his lawyer, appealed to the High Court of Justice for his client's detention to be completely revoked, but the court rejected the appeal. According to his lawyer, Awawdeh is not an operative for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group. Last December, the Israeli military arrested Awawdeh claiming that he was a member of the group.
