In India's Uttar Pradesh 26 Muslims were arrested for offering salah (Namaz) at home. Moradabad is one of the Muslim majority cities in India, Muslims have been living in Moradabad since 1300 CE. Muslims were arrested because according to cops they were assembled illegally at that house for offering Salah. The complaint was filed by a non-muslim activist. Muslims were arrested as the house of two local villagers allowed people to offer Salah at their homes but according to the complainant the assembly was unlawful and no prior notice was issued to the local authorities for such gathering.
The following incident sparked fear among the Muslim community in India as it is one of the fundamental rights that a person in a democratic country can freely offer religious practices in their homes. Several Muslim leaders engaged in the matter and call it an authoritative action against Muslim minorities in India. One of the major Muslim leaders in India said the arrest is unethical and non-judicial as anyone can pray anywhere.
