Satanic Verses author who insulted 'Quran' lost one eye and use of hand

LATEST: The agent of Salman Rushdie said just now that the author is on a ventilator and unable to see and speak, he might also lose his eyesight while his arm and liver are badly damaged because the attacker stabbed him in his stomach and neck. Rushide was attacked by a 24 year-old-boy in August of 2022.

According to the FBI, the attacker Hadi Matar has sympathies with Shia Muslims and Iran and he seems to be a religious young man in his 30s, the attack can be linked to the religious sentiments of Muslims as Rushdie's "Satanic verses" openly criticized and defame the religion of Islam and its last Prophet.

Rushdie was attacked by a man who wanted to kill him as he prepared to give a lecture in western New York. In the 1980s, Iran threatened him with death for his writing. The man who stabbed Salman Rushdie was identified as Hadi Matar, 24, of New Jersey. According to "Law enforcement authorities", the injured author underwent surgery. There has been an arrest made in connection with the alleged attack. A pass entry was granted to him (Hadi Matar) to gain access to the grounds of Chautauqua Institution. He (Hadi) has not been charged formally. It will be determined what charges Rushdie will face based on his health. The hospital in which he (author) is currently undergoing medical treatment is located in Erie, Pennsylvania.
