Nizam of Hyderabad had electricity plant installed at Madina in 1939

 


At his expense, Nizam of Hyderabad proposed to install an electricity plant in Madina on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee in 1936, the work of installing the electricity plant was completed in the year 1939. Mir Osman Ali, the Nizam of Hyderabad thought that the electricity plant installed by the ottomans was outdated and it needs to be updated in order to do that he ordered to install a new technological-based electricity plant.


Allocating expenses for the plant was not enough for the Nizam, he also ordered Nawab Ahsan Yar Jung, chief engineer of Hyderabad Public Works Department to go to Madina, to look at and oversee all the work for the installment of the electricity Plant. The wakf board of Hyderabad has to look after the maintenance of the plant and pay the monthly electricity bill.


Apart from that, the Nizam also allocated money for the repair of the graves of the Prophet's companions and wives in Jannatul Baqi. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) uncle Hadrat Hamza's grave in Jannatul Moalla was also got repaired by the Nizam and the graveyard in Makkah also get a boundary and a gate by the will of Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan.
