A few days ago 30 Quran Hafiz (students) died in an accident while they were returning from their honoring ceremony. The accident happened when a bus carrying the student got drowned. The road known as Al-Salam Canal Rd that connects the governorates of Dakahila and Damietta in Egypt became the reason for the drowned of the bus. The deadly event took place when the steering wheel of the bus started malfunctioning and as a result, 4 Quran hafiz died on the spot while others got severely injured, according to the reports the students were coming from a Quran memorizing competition in the Damietta district in Egypt.
As the news reaches the police all of a sudden 7 rescue teams came to the river site and rescued students, soon after all the injured were sent to the nearby hospital for first aid. According to authorities, Muhammad Ibrahim Jamal, 4, Shaima Abdel Nasser al-Jamal, 13, Tasneem Mahmoud Rifai, 15, and Haneen Hafez Rifai, 11, are dead. All passengers on the bus are currently being searched.
Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Sheikh of Al-Azhar, mourned the deaths of four children resulting from the accident of a bus carrying 30 Quran memorizers in Al-Salam Canal in Damietta Governorate, northeastern Egypt.
He also directed the leaders of the religious establishment to "provide the necessary health support to the injured, including surgeries, and distribution of medical supplies to the hospitals at Al-Azhar University." Al-Tayeb's statement was posted on Al-Azhar's Facebook page.
