Breaking Stereotypes: MONA SHINDY Is Australia's First Hijabi Muslim Navy Captain & Engineer



MONA Shindy breaks the primitive stereotypes of our society that a woman is born to do household works and to nourish children and make love to her husband, prepare food and take care of old father-in-law & mother-in-law. Although, Islam always gave women to work on their own as well as to work as a Queen of her House (domestic works), The first blessed wife of Prophet also worked from her house later back in 600 A.D, Yes it is difficult to believe, but Yes she was engaged in daily business.

MONA Shindy with her excellency becomes AUSTRALIA'S first Navy captain along with an Engineer, Yes Indeed, after reading her story many more of our Muslim sisters will get motivated and look forward to achieving their goals and make themselves along with their parents and husbands feel proud for them.

MONA Shindy not only Australia's first women Muslim navy captain but she is also the first Muslim Hijab wearing Captain & Engineer. She is not just a Captain but also a Navy Weapons Electrical Engineer and the Chief of Navy's Strategic Adviser on Islamic Cultural Affairs.

MONA migrated when she was only 3 from Egypt to Australia along with her family and settled near the beach suburb of Maroubra, in Sydney. Her father was passed when she was 14 and she saw her mother sacrificing so many things to raise 4 of her siblings alone.
 This scenario of her family made her focus on her career and her studies and allow her to achieve the great and huge success she has today. Mona is now married and has 3 children of her own, Mona is now 26 years in the Navy services.

She has been on the post of Director of Littoral Warfare and Maritime Support for the Royal Australian Navy, Mona told that her job as Strategic Adviser on ICA is one of the important because when it comes to deal and communicate with Muslim allies.

She said: "I got surprised when I see how much keen interest my colleagues show in learning about my religion ISLAM"

It is a great reminder to all of us that we can still lead the world by following the principles of Islam and the teachings of our Prophet and showcased our peaceful values in front of the entire world.
