Famous American Rapper Lil Jon revert to Islam during Ramadan


 

Esteemed American rapper, DJ, and record producer, Jonathan H. Smith, widely known as Lil Jon, publicly embraced Islam during a ceremony held at the King Fahad Mosque in Los Angeles on Friday.


In a gathering of a sizable congregation, Jon announced his conversion to Islam, marking a significant moment in his spiritual journey.


A video circulating on social media captured the rapper reciting the shahada, an affirmation of faith, first in Arabic and then in English, under the guidance of the mosque's imam.


Born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1972, Jonathan H. Smith, known by his birth name, rose to prominence for his influential role in popularizing the hip-hop subgenre during the early 2000s.


Renowned for his vibrant personality and iconic catchphrases like "Yeah!" and "Okay," Lil Jon gained fame with chart-topping hits such as "Get Low" and "Turn Down for What."


Jon's conversion to Islam adds him to the list of notable Americans who have embraced the faith during the first week of Ramadan this year, following the footsteps of writer and activist Shaun King.
