Hajj has been Canceled 40 Times until now since the passing of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

As we all are concerned whether this year's 2020 annual Hajj will be held or not due to the Pandemic Disease from which almost each and every part of the existing world where human beings are living is going through. the Minister of Hajj and Umrah earlier said that ' health of our fellow Muslims brothers from around the world is our first priority, as keeping in mind that this disease is deadly in its nature and spreading rapidly ever before, so, do not make any plan for annual Hajj 2020 for now, before the ministry make any clear decision that whether the Hajj will be held or not"

Did you know? Hajj has been canceled 40 times until now since the passing of the holy prophet of Islam (Prophet Muhammad) PBUH.

Hajj has been canceled several times over the past centuries, since the foundation of Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia in 1932, it has never missed a year, not during the Spanish flu pandemic of 1917-1918
the Spanish flu also took millions of lives during a period of one year.

If the Government of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia canceled this year's Hajj of 2020 than the number will reach to "41" or "40" respectively, as the sources are blurry whether it will be 40th time or 41st.
The first time the Hajj was canceled in 629 A.D.

865 A.D. Massacre on the Mount Arafat: Led to the cancelation of the annual Hajj, Ismail Bin Yousuf conflict with the Abbasid Caliphate based in Baghdad. launched a severe attack on the holy Mountain Arafat overlooking Mecca in 865 A.D., massacring thousands of pilgrims there. The raid of the army forced the Hajj to be canceled.

930 A.D. Led to the cancelation of the Hajj of the following year when the Qarmatian attack took place, Abu Taher al-Janabi, the chief of the Qarmatiani heterodox sect based in Bahrain, launched an attack in Mecca. Historians say the Army of Abu Taher killed around 30,000 Pilgrims in the holy city of Makkah and dumped their bodies in the sacred Zamzam well. The army of the Qarmatian also looted the grand mosque and stole the Black Stone (From Jannah) which is engraved on the Kaaba and took it to the island of Bahrain. Due to this, the Hajj was then suspended for almost a decade until the black stone was brought back to Kaaba.

In the year 983: The Abbasid and Fatimid Caliphate fought which led to the cancelation of the annual Hajj- The political, as well as religious difference among the two caliphates the Abbasids and the Fatimids, disrupted the Hajj, the Abbasids ruled over Iraq and Syria while the Fatimids ruled over Egypt, their politics hold the hajj for eight years and hajj was held after eight years in 991.

The year 1831 brought Plague with it, and then it led to another cancelation of the Hajj, the plague started from India and reached Mecca and killed three-quarters of the Hajj pilgrims there.

1837-1858 - These years are the years of series of epidemics: In a span of two decades, hajj was halted three times, this stopped the pilgrims to reach Mecca for almost seven years.

1837, the plague hit the holy city of Makkah and the hajj was halted till 1840.
Two cholera pandemic hit the city one in the year 1846 and 1858 respectively.
